Congbin Fu, Nanjing University

Academician, professor and the director of the Institute for Climate and Global Change Research (ICGCR) at Nanjing University, China. He served as a visiting scientist at University of Colorado, NOAA and NCAR, and a research Professor and the Director of START Regional Center for Temperature East Asia at Institute of Atmospheric Physics of CAS. He has long been engaged in the study of climate variability and dynamics, including air-sea, air-land and climate–ecosystem interactions. He has served as the chief scientist of several national projects and has published more than 160 peer-reviewed scientific papers. Prof. Fu has been actively involved in the development of the IGBP and other international global change research program. He was a member of the IGBP Steering Committee, Scientific Steering Committees of GAIM and AIMES of IGBP. He is one of the main instruments in the establishment of the Monsoon Asia Integrated Regional Studies (MAIRS), the first regional project of ESSP. He was also a member of Executive Board of ICSU, the president of the Pacific Science Association, and a vice-president of Chinese Association for Science and Technology. He received several awards, including the degree of doctor Honoris Causa of Goteborg University of Sweden.
