Bin Wang, University of Hawaii
Professor and Chair at the Department of
Meteorology and a Team Leader for the Monsoon Research at the International
Pacific Research Center at University of Hawaii. His areas of expertise are climate and
atmospheric dynamics including Global Monsoons, Tropical Intraseasonal
Oscillation, El Nino-Southern Oscillation, Climate Variability, Predictability
and Prediction, Climate Changes, Tropical Cyclones, Atmosphere-Ocean
Interaction, Atmospheric Waves and Instability. He has published over 260 scholar publications and edited “The
Asian Monsoon” book.
He has 42 papers having more than 100 citations each. Wang’s many
contributions to the climate research community include serving as co-chair of
the CLIVAR/Asian-Australian Monsoon panel, co-chair of Science Steering
Committee of the Asian Monsoon Years (2007-2012), Co-Chair of Scientific
Advisory Committee of APEC Climate Center. He served as an editor for the
Journal of Atmospheric Sciences. He is a Fellow of American Meteorological Society and received the “Scientist of the Year” Award from
ARCS (Achievement Awards for College Scientists) foundation in 2012 and
University Hawaii “Regent’s Medal for Excellence in Research” in 2013.
