COAA's CFC Number is: 60027
I am writing to seek your Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) contribution to support the Chinese-American Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (COAA), your favored association of Chinese-American earth scientists. COAA's CFC number is: 60027.
I would like to express my utmost appreciation to COAA members who have supported us with CFC contributions in the past. I would also like to encourage those of you who haven't yet joined to become a life member of COAA. The lifetime membership fee is merely one hundred dollars ($100). I personally believe that it is hard to find better value than this these days; you will see why as you read on.
Our mission at COAA is:
- To network ocean and atmosphere professionals in establishing a forum based on common interests;
- To facilitate professional contacts;
- And to improve qualification and occupational opportunities.
As you know, it is getting increasingly difficult to engage in effective research without working with your colleagues. Moreover, young scientists starting up need someone to mentor. Conversely, established scientists need trustworthy and hardworking young blood. COAA provides a platform to facilitate these interactions, which have led numerous scientists to fruitful results.
Some of the professional activities sponsored by COAA in the past year include the Spring Workshop at the University of Maryland and WOCO2007 Conference at Qingdao, China. We are also entering a new sister relationship with the Hong Kong Society of Photogrammetry and the Remote Sensing Organization. In addition to professional activities, COAA has organized many special occasions to foster fellowship, such as the Lunar New Year Celebration. It is a wonderful forum to make new friends that may also prove beneficial professionally.
CFC Contributions to COAA have been carefully and wisely used to facilitate these meaningful activities. Your CFC contributions pave the way for COAA's future. I once again invite you to become a life member of this wonderful organization. On behalf of COAA, thank you for your support.
Quanan Zheng, Ph.D.
2007 COAA President
