Dr. Norden Huang Finalist For Service to America Medal

The Partnership for Public Service has selected Dr. Norden Huang as a finalist for its Service to America Medals. The awards pay tribute to America's dedicated federal workforce, highlighting those who have made significant contributions too our country. Honorees are chosen based on their commitment and innovation as well as the impact of their work on addressing the needs of the nation.

Dr. Wei-Kuo Tao Receives the Excellent Alumni Award

Dr. Wei-Kuo Tao recently received the Excellent Alumni Award from the National Central University of Taiwan on June 3 2006. The citation honors his significant contribution through his use of the cloud resolving model to improve our understanding of cloud and precipitation processes and their impact on radiation, surface and climate variations in the Tropics.

Professor Da-Lin Zhang Elected as an AMS Fellow

Professor Da-Lin Zhang of the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science, University of Maryland has been elected as a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society, an honor accorded to only 0.2% of the membership per year. It is given to an individual to recognize outstanding contributions to the atmospheric or related oceanic or hydrologic sciences during a substantial period of years. A formal announcement will be made during the AMS' 2006 annual meeting in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Benjamin F. Chao of NASA Bestowed an Einstein 2005 Professorship and an Honorary Professorship by the Chinese Academy of Sciences

Dr. Ben Chao, a COAA member at NASA Goddard, was selected to be one of 20 "Einstein Professors" of 2005 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The Einstein Professorship is part of CAS' celebration of the World Year of Physics 2005 honoring Einstein. On a separate occasion in early July 2005, Dr. Chao was bestowed an honorary professorship by the Graduate University of CAS in Beijing.
